I think that it dependent on the players.

I agree that if the difference in strength is big the weaker will remain weaker
but if the difference in strength is small then things may be different.

It is not obvious.

If there are 2 2000 players when one is weak in the opening and the second is
weak in the endgames then if you let the second to play the opening and the
first to play the endgames you may get an 2100 player who is stronger than 2050
player.

I believe that a team Movei-Bestia when Bestia plays only the endgame may be
better than every one of the engines.

Movei often have problems in the endgame so I suspect that even if you divide
the time of Movei and Bestia by 2 the team may be stronger than everyone of the
engines.

Note that I am not sure in the last point.
