Chess game to run on cellphones

Vancouver Sun

BURNABY -- Two B.C. Institute of Technology students, paired with students from
Korea, are working on a chess game to run on cellphones. Abbotsford resident
Kerry Friesen, 28, and his partner in the industry work project at BCIT, Gord
White, 45, of Burnaby, have been mentoring and working with Kyong Roh Lee, 23,
and Hee Kyoung Park, 22. Lee, a computer science major, and Park, an electrical
engineering major, are among a group of 30 visiting students from South Korea's
Chonbuk National University. It's estimated that the world market for mobile
gaming will be approximately $17.5 billion by 2006. The project involves a
number of participants from education and industry, including Telus Mobility,
Magnetar Games, Proface INDE, Alctel, and Holley Communications.
