Subject: Shep Championship Game 12: Junior 5 beta vs. MChess 8 beta (EXCLUSIVE!)

Author: Kai Lübke

Date: 03:13:23 10/01/98

  Hi all,

MChess 8 beta lost its first official match ever yesterday to Junior 5.
Both programs left book at move 21 (junior at -0,13, MChess at +0,90).
When the game was adjourned after 40 moves at midnight, Junior had Rook, Knight
and Pawn for a Queen. Both programs said they were about +0,75 up.
But Junior proved to be maybe the strongest endgame player in the silicon world
and took away the victory in a hard fought game.

Special thanks to Marty Hirsch for providing a preview version of MChess 8.
