I concur with you mostly, with the exception of 3min. per move is enough to
prove you're correct, (1hr. per move on superfast hardware may be needed), also
other top programmes like Rebel will play this sac (Bxh2+), and your opinion of
Junior being not a good programme, is false.

It was playing Kasparov, and Kasparov isn't your average Super GM, he's an
"Ultra" GM!, and should make _any_ commercial programme appear somewhat
inferior. Naturally I'm disappointed, with his result, and also agree with
you that Kasparov didn't wish to take risks, possibly losing the match
like he did in '97 against DB. I'm afraid that loss still haunts him!
Drawing Game 2 and losing Game 3 of course was the reason Kasparov became over
cautious! Yes, Kasparov had winning chances in game 3 with Nxe4!!, instead of
Bh6?!, and a draw before the stupid move, Rh5??, losing, instead of Ng6+!
drawing.

I also know he should have won, and didn't reseach Junior well enough, to
realize that it would play 10.Bxh2+?!!, had he and his team seen this prior to
the game, I'd expect he would have had a prepared line, with g3!! and won.

Terry

P.S. Kasparov was so concerned with adverting losing the match he was satisfied
in extending a draw offer in the last game of the match, after Rxc3!

He was also annoyed he failed to fully analyse, Bc1! with Ba3! in mind.

Too bad, he still had a 50-60% chance of winning.

According to analysis by DJ it was going to play a5? allowing b5!!++/- winning!

When the DJ team saw this under the advice of GM Boris Altman, they turned
around and offered the draw!

BTW Fritz 8 would have made that mistake as well!
