I have played extensive comp-comp games at long time limits, starting with both ...Qh2 and ...Nh2+, using top freeware programs (Crafty, Ruffian, Comet) against themselves and each other. All the programs start out liking White's position, usually assigning it a score in the neighborhood of +1.4 pawns or so. To my amazement, in almost every game black equalizes somewhere down the line and even wins a few of them. It seems the black resources are greater than first imagined. The conclusion I have drawn is that Kaspy was wise to force the draw; all these complicated lines surely favored Deep Junior in practical play.
