In blitz matches programs are more liable to falling prey to tactics beyond
their horizon (see Eduard Nemeth's games).
Usually I don't stand any chance against Genesis when the battle becomes
tactical, but yesterday a blitz match went as following (on a 733 MHz machine):
[Event "Computer chess game"]
[Site "CHESSPC"]
[Date "2003.02.19"]
[Round "-"]
[White "Omid"]
[Black "Genesis"]
[Result "1-0"]
[TimeControl "300"]
1. d4 d5 2. c4 dxc4 3. e3 Nf6 4. Bxc4 e6 5. Nf3 a6 6. Ne5 Bd6 7. f4 O-O 8.
O-O Nbd7 9. Nc3 c5 10. a4 cxd4 11. exd4 Qb6 12. a5 Qc7 13. Bd3 Bb4 14. Nc4

21. Ne4 Nb3 22. Nf6+ Nxf6 23. gxf6 Qd8 24. Nd7 Bd2 25. Qh6 Bxe3+
{Black resigns} 1-0
Position after white's 24th move:
[D] r2q1rk1/1b1N1p1p/pp2pPp1/8/1b1P1P1Q/1n1BB3/1P5P/R4RK1 b - - 0 24
24... Bd2 was certainly a blunder, but let's look at Genesis' analysis:

Actually in the position seen in the PV of depth 9 black is checkmated:
[D] r4r1k/1b3p1Q/pp2pNp1/8/3P1P2/1n1B4/1P3K1P/R7 b - - 0 29
But since Genesis doesn't follow checks in quiescence (only captures), it needed
to go one ply deeper to find it.
