Today blitz games (5+3 or 10+0) are not meaningless.
IMO its better to test engines with blitz games during development of a new
program or version. Long games are too time consuming.
If you find something odd simply change to infinite mode and test if your
program would do the same mistakes at longer time controls too.
Matches at long time controls are only necessary to fine tune the programs
before they are released.
