I have to agree! I have had to do extensive reconfiguration on some. One particular example of shoddy quality work is just months old: A big name computer chain shipped 10k *identical* computers. They were high end P4 computers configured for multimedia presentations. Did they work? By fits and starts only. Frequently freezing up. Multimedia was freeze frame if it didn't crash outright. Did they boot? Every one of them! On top of it all they had managed to install Norton in such a way that it completely immobilized the computer after a while. The current list of issues with them is in the thousands of items. Brainwiping the machine and making a manual install is the best cure. But the manufacturer did not ship it with a full XP but a machine specfic version. And they were unwilling to supply a full version until you became serious and mentioning legal recourse. These babies did at least work. Another batch from a different source were DOA in one of five cases. But in the most cases the machines work ok. If in a higher price bracket than the actual hardware warranted. MvH Dan Andersson
