i subscribe to uri's point. Comet IS NOT weak. the same counts for patzer. from time to time programmers implement new stuff and test it out. its not always a progress. thats completely normal. but you HAVE to test it out. without implementing new stuff, computerchess would stop. therefore strength and favorites go up and down. also you need luck in a tournament. and much other things. IMO you critisize wrong people.
