You can generate Windows executables with MingW, and you can create makefiles to use with Visual Studio. GCC 3.2 was faster than VC 7 in some things, so it's possible that you may see improved speed with GCC. If you leave compiler differences on #define, you can go back to VC if you see no gains. -Matt
