I can see that I was not clear on what I was suggesting. I am talking about weigting evaluations for a computer program not a person studying openings. I am not suggesting that the program use statistics from others games but use them from games that it has played in real life against other people. Again I believe Crafty does this now for deciding what openings are best to use. I am simply wondering if a program would benefit if it took into consideration the strength of its past opponents along with if it won/loss count for a particular opening.
