Having the chance to get to know Ruffian and its chess knowledge and search
features quite well, I believe that this score is NOT a true reflection of the
respective strengths of the engines tested. Firstly, and most important, I know
that Ruffian, as an UCI engine, does not learn. Whereas, I am sure, Shredder's
paraameters are set for learning. Secondly, the book by Sandro Necchi is about
twenty times larger and more comprehensive than the Ruffian book. Having said
all this, I acknowledge that it does not diminish the convincing score of
Shredder, an exceptionally strong and intelligent engine. It does though
indicate that Perola Valfridsson should do something about the learning and the
book :)
Hi to all members of CCC. I am happily back after an 18 month break, due to
health problems. Glad to be amongst the crowd of computer soulmates again.
Thanks.
