No, rather the opposite -- for "DarkThought" deeper searches always mean
much *improved* positional understanding. But I strongly suspect that there
is a close relationship and tradeoff between this kind of pruning and heavy
vs. moderate extensions as well as fat vs. lean evaluation functions.

The design philosophy of "DarkThought" stresses an approach right in the
middle of all the above.
