From the viewpoint of a "not so strong" player so to speak, I can only say that The System contains excellent parts about other things than blockade and prophylaxis, i.e. the idea of tempo in the opening, some endgame technics... I've repeatedly read sceptic comments on The System from english readers, so I guess it may be a translation issue (too). I could read the german version, being a native speaker of german, and had no problems at all. He uses a comparative (illustrative) language, which makes some concepts easier to remember. In german regions, usually Tarrasch is considered the "most dogmatic" author, having been a counterpart of Nimzovich in the discussion of their time. - The most valuable parts of The System though, are IMO those where these two would have had the same opinions. Nimzovich explains many things where I don't doubt that Tarrasch or Rubinstein would have fully agreed. Regards, Mike Scheidl
