The version of Fritz 8 that I have is Fritz 8.0.0.8. This is the version that was on my CD, and it's the only version I've seen. I know from posts here that some people got an older version. The "hidden update" on the Playchess server is for the GUI only. I'm not sure what Chessbase's policy is on engine upgrades. Has ANYONE who has emailed Chessbase received a reply on this subject? There was a new Fritz 8 engine on the latest Chessbase Magazine CD, Fritz 8.0.0.19. This is an experimental version, and Eduard Nemeth has already proved in his posts that it is inferior to Fritz 8.0.0.8.
