chessbase started off wih fritz as their main chess playing programme; it has alredy earned the repuation of layin low deep blue, kasparov and anand: hiarcs was an occasional effort and still is by part time programmer mark uniacke: junior joined chessbase much later and again is a part time effort by shay and amir; nimzo joined chessbase even later and was available for 2 or 3 different GUI including that "hated arch rival ossi weiner" till version 7.32 when it became exclusively chessbase; same holds true for SMK and shredder; in fact these were only available in the MCS interface till SMK wisely decided to break of with ossi weiner and was promptly snapped up by frederic freidel of chessbase; CT's CT and GT have never eally been part of the chessbase stable except once and not since; also been available for a number of different GUI and there is no latst version for CB expected; and above all fritz has almost always been number 1 since 1997; although this fact is not liked by many it is undeniably true!
