Probably they are having good living enough without getting money from chess
programming. I think it's a hobby one will continue anyway (even if there were
not many of those interested to play the program) for his own fun. And why
won't one share the fun with others, when we have so good data communication
connections... I'm just a beginner, written simple chess programs for three
years. I think it always feels good to get feedback from here and there
about my programs.

Perhaps if I someday can write a program with some new idea making it really
strong, there could come into mind to try make some money with it too...
But then quite soon I'd tell the new idea to the others also.
