In the 90s my company used the Watcom C++ compiler because it optimized the code
much better optimized than the rival products (Microsoft and Borland). Then the
Watcom company was bought by another company (Sybase?) and the quality of the
compiler started to slip, so we switched to Visual C++. But the last time I used
the Watcom compiler was three years ago, so maybe they've got their act back
together by now.
