Most likely you have a hardware problem.  Specifically, an overheating problem
that
could be the result of a poorly installed heatsink, or a fan that should be
directing air
over the heatsink but is not.  But that would be my best guess since it takes a
while
to fail, and chess programs will definitely ramp up the core cpu temp.
