...problem is not solved yet.More info:

definitely this is not overheating problem: PC temp is 50 C after hours of
running
memory is 256MB DDR RAM
in my old PC fritz8 has never any problem in 3 months (W98 se)
two typical error messages: chessprogram8 caused invalid page fault in MFC42.dll
/
kernel32.dll at 0177:xxxxxxxx

in the evening I will run RAM test, fritz update, testing of other programs and
so on - and of course report when/if(?) problems are solved...
