We're talking blitz -- not long games. To me blitz does not really establish strength of engine at long games. To me a true measure of engine stength is how well it does at long games. 2. We're talking commercial engine yes - but just two months ago it was considered amatuer. Quantum leaps in strength do happen very often. Just because Deep Sjeng is now commercial does not automatically place it at the top of the amatuer engine list in strength. 3. From my perespective, it was good result. I thought Crafty "X" would beat it by more. But I had no reason to think that, other this version of Crafty "x" scores about 40% against Shredder 7 under the same conditions. I believe Shredder 7 might be the strongest engine , commercial or amatuer, right now. Of course I have not seen Gandalf 6 yet. But with my long tournament going - I don't have time to run Crafty "x" in game/5 against all other engines. I just run those games to make sure I did't break anything really obvious in Crafty. Whether this Crafty "x" plays better at long time controls remains to be seen. Often I get it to play better at faster time controls and then it plays weaker at longer time controls.
