I intend to buy the new Gandalf 6 as soon as it will be available (with or
without opening book).
I also intend to use it mainly in the Chessbase GUI. Like most users I need
*.cbh-database suppport because nearly all my bases are *.cbh-databases .

IMO you should give the owners of your program the possibility to convert
a Gandalf book in *.ctg-format. At least a smaller tournament version.
I think there is no need to get the information to convert the book from
chessbase.
You could release a Gandalf6.mvs book for example. I hope Ed Schröder would
kindly give you the necessary informations. All CB users can convert the
*.mvs-books in a Chessbase tree with the import old book function of Fritz.
There might be some problems regarding the weights of moves.
However such a special tournament book could be worth the extra work.
Dont forget that nearly all your potential customers own at least one Chessbase
product.
