Hi Michael,

well, as long you can use Gandalfs book under any GUI (and that IS the case
afaik) I don't see why they should sell less... And I think that even ChessBase
may sell more when there engines would be UCIs - simply because they would get
interesting for e.g. ChessAssistant users... and could be used with the
UCI2WB-Adapter in ChessMaster etc...
But it's dreaming - each company must calculate the costs and the payback -
might be complicate for the Fritz team to convert Fritz in an UCI compliant
engine and it is unsure if there will ever be a payback for that... Anyway I
would really like to see an UCI Fritz, Hiarcs, Junior

For what else are you using ChessBase database ? Afaik you can't play with it...
(unlike ChessAssistant which is a full playing program...)

Don't get your point - above you were talking about two databases and now Fritz
7,8 GUI is a database ? Well, of course you are right that the database
capabilities of Fritz GUI are better then in ChessPartner or in the wonderful
Shredder-GUI - but they are also there... And I am quite sure that Lex will work
on that even more in the future...

Greets, Thomas
