I think it is an eval decision. Some engines treat KRBKR as draw, some prefer
the rook and pawn side in KRBKRP and some treat the bishop like an ordinary
extra-piece.
With either of these you can look silly. Engines that think KRBKR is a draw can
lose badly when they meet one of the exceptions.
