A slow cow?

Do you think that a 3 GHz Xeon is slower than a 2 GHz Athlon XP for your typical
program mix? Assume that you're doing useful work on the machine and that price
is irrelevant. I can't find benchmarks for the exact program (Synopsys VCS) that
concerns me the most.

BTW - Friends of mine have had trouble running EDA software (Synplicity's
Synplify and Xilinx's ISE) on Athlons, but I didn't get involved - maybe they
didn't cool them properly or bought crappy motherboards.
