This Wednesday at 830 EST on ICC Deep Sjeng (epanek) vs GM Garompon 60 0 rated Deep Sjeng plays an intersting game of chess. I am not sure, but based upon my initial testing it appears a bit weak in pawn endings vs other engines and is very aggressive with its rooks...at least in blitz. OTOH,It can be tactically brilliant at times. If it can get into a complicated middlegame it fairs well. It needs a good advantage going into the endgame to win or else it seems to misevaluate the position. Of course this is all based on a few days of observing patterns. I am running a test match of 10-20 games against Fritz7 at 60' time controls to get a vague feel for the overall strength at longer times. On my platform it will search around 1300KNS in opening 1600KNS middegame and around 2000KNS in endgame until it hits the EGTB. I made the offer to GM Garompon tonight. We discussed this beforehand so there should be no problem with the terms. I am negotiating more games hopefully for a total of 6 games. Should I use the default personality or not? Please comment.
