I can offer the Quicktest: http://meineseite.i-one.at/PermanentBrain/quick/quicke.htm I was able to predict the strength increase of SOS.2 to SOS.3, using that test. Also, it reflects that Ruffian and List are the strongest free engines, although the test is strictly tactical only (IOW., easy & medium difficult combinations, from the comp's viewpoint... from a human's viewpoint, mostly impossible :o)). Of course, the ranking differs more or less much from common game-based ratings lists in general, because I test only the combinative skills (aimed at tactical analysis strength so to speak), within small time frames of 1 min./pos. max. For example, various Nimzos are still ranking very good in the Quicktest. Includes 2 *avoid move* test positions, to consider when someone uses automatic testsuite processing (the wrong move is usually "found" very fast of course). Therefore it's better to check the results manually, to avoid wrong rating of the result unless the testuite function has perfect support for am tests. Regards, M.Scheidl
