I do not understand 1)It seems to me that the assumption that the programmer of an engine knows best how to test the engine does not contradict the conjecture that beta testers may help the programmer to develop a better version. 2)It seems to me that the programmer has not infinite computer time and beta testers may use computer time to help him. 3)It seems to me that there are also cases when beta testers give productive ideas for chess programs. Even if the programmer knows better it does not mean that other people cannot contribute. Can you explain what is the error in my assumptions or in my logic and why do you think that the best that I can do is never to send movei to beta testers? As far as I know based on reading this forum in the past there are non programmers who test new engines before they become commercial including commercial engines like Shredder or Tiger or Deep Sjeng.
