I didn't know, that Ruffian will not learn under UCI (does it use his own book in the SSDF setup?). Anyway - I checked the openings. There were only two games with similar openings (ECO E12). The first was lost by Yace, the second drawn. So, there is no sign of "learning disadvantage", perhaps even the contrary. I agree with your "a substantial Elo point advantage for Ruffian isn't that surprising". But 8-0 (which I don't doubt) didn't look nice ... Cheers, Dieter
