I believe it's quite impossible to program the subtlies you mention, into a chess program. Botvinnik certainly did not succeed with "Pioneer". Fortunately, it isn't needed. Changing a CC program to reject a trojan horse trap correctly, takes some work, but it certainly can be done, without slowing the whole program down. Certainly don't think many CC programmers are losing sleep wondering what wrinkle Edward will discover this week. :) Like you, I'd love to see the GM's match up against the top programs with a great deal riding on the outcome - not just for showing up.
