It's certainly true that Comet owes a lot to good old GnuChess 3.1.
I had been inspired a lot by inspecting its code.

Corresponding credits are given in its readme-files and elsewhere (internet
pages, communications with ICCA before wmccc participations, etc.).

I also had occasion to thank an author of the GNU Chess team personally.

However, I do think that similarity between their code pieces is quite limited.
Eval and search are very different. Move generation is a kind of optimized
GnuChess move generation.

I don't see any illegal or illegitimate acts from my side.
Neither do i think, that the term "clone" is appropriate.
