When I re-installed Fritz 8 the options that was offered were:compact,custom and standard.If I remember correctly, the standard was the one recomended and that I used.I have always used the DEFAULT installtion.I have used this standard installation for all My Fritzes(from 6 thru 8).I used the same type of installation for My Fritz 7 and when I did go to the Playchess server ,It ask Me if i wanted to up-date and I did.So I do believe this isn't the problem.I have recived back an E-Mail reply from Chessbase and They are aware of My problem and ask Me for some information.I am not the only member here having problems with this Fritz 8 up-date.Your recomendation of uninstalling and reinstalling Fritz 8 was the same thing Chessbase suggested.Still no dice.Even when I uninstall and reinstall Fritz 8 It never ask Me for the registation number on the manual.Even when You go to :Help/regegister/ the window to type the serial number in displays,(and You can type the numbers in),however the OK box in the lower left corner in greyed out and not in black letter and of no use.There is still a problem here.This is not happening on just this one P/c of Mine ,but to all of My P/cs.The same thing occurs on all of them.Please keep posting comments or recommendation s here.I'm all hears.Thank You,>>>>Mike
