Hey Albert,

I have an Athlon XP 2100+ and an engine which is quite weak - around about the
strength of the 60-70th ranked engines in the WBEC-Ridderker. See
http://wbec-ridderkerk.nl/

Currently if I let my engine have a 5 second think, I get 264/300 answers
correct.

My engine is no speed demon - just a simple alpha beta search (no forward
pruning) called with an aspiration window. I have worked a lot on my move
ordering, so my branching factor is pretty close to optimal.

Seems to me you have some bugs. The ones I found which really pulled down my
scores were the ones to do with the quiescent search.

Other than checking closely for bugs, the easiest way I found (as Uri mentioned)
to improve your score is some check extensions.

So long as you are hitting a reasonable depth (6-8 in complex positions, 10+ in
the endgame ones) in most of the positions, you should definately be solving at
least 240).

Regards,
Joel
