Hi Albert!

Hmm these positions are all positions that are "deeper" then most in WAC! My
program S-chess also has a lot of trouble with these. The second position is a
mate in 4 for instance, if you dont have a mating extention it will take 7 or
8 ply brute force to find. (Takes my program about 40 seconds to on my slow
P3-550 for instance.. :( )
The third my program doesnt solve in a minute, and sticks to Rf8. With getting
to 10 ply brute force, so the solution is probably deeper then that.. The 4th
position you mention takes 7 ply brute force to see for my program. That also
takes more then half a minute because at first it is doubting between a few
moves.
The 5th my program also doesn't solve in under a minute on my slow comp. (It
will on the next iteration but it will take a while longer..)

Well just to give you an idea! :) These are really difficult! Most positions
in WAC can be solved instantly with only several ply brute force.

If your program manages to solve most other positions there probably isn't
anything wrong with your program's search.. And making your program solve
these fast probably means having good extentions. (I don't know..)

Try run them for a longer time to see if it will find them after all!

Goodluck!

Stan
