 Both would be excellent choices. The AMD would be best for chess. And both
should be more than enough for any flight sim.
 One of the most important questions would be the motherboard for the AMD
machine.  The nForce2 chipset is the current champ. The new VIA KT400A seems
good too. See that you get Serial ATA.
