What would be more awful is the closing of CCC altogether.

At 11:13 this morning our ISP shut down the our site for about
15 minutes because it was using 90% of the server's CPU capacity.
This is way over what we had contracted for.

With the CCC (and Your Move sites) continuing to grow geometrically,
in both hits and new members, we have to take some measures to ensure
that the growth stays within the confines of the monetary budget
that we have set for it.

When the Computer Chess Reports was by subscription ($25 per year),
all of these additional costs could be met, but now that we have
made the decision to offer the CCC and CCR and Resource Center for
free to the public, we must create some limits. And what you see in
the Resource Center now is just the very beginning of what is
planned.

Something had to give now. We tried the most innocuous solution.
I fear that the seams will swell again in the near future because
CCC is getting record numbers of new members and our "newbies"
forum has not even begun yet, not to mention the other sections
that are currently being worked on by Fernando and our staff.
