Bad news for White: 2700+ and a firm hand is no longer enough to punish Black
for choosing the Sveshnikov Sicilian. It now seems that Anand’s convincing win
over Kasimdzhanov in Hyderabad proved only that 10...f5 should probably be
given preference to 10...Bg7, not to mention that Jakovenko’s effort versus
Grischuk at Aeroflot Open 2003 in Moscow (22...Qg6 instead of Kasimdzhanov’s
22...Qg5 makes way for the rook, followed by 23...Rac8 heading for the fifth
rank via c5, with the idea Rh5 or Rg5, instead of 23...f5 as seen in Senff –
Halkias, Yerevan 2000) might even regain 10...Bg7 its status of a viable
alternative to 10...f5.
