It is just hard to for a human to play with fewer errors than the computer, but not impossible, not yet. The comp vs comp is now very interesting and comps are great opponents and practice tools. The Pocket PC and Palm chess devices (as well as stand alone) are very beatable, even for me (about 60% of the time). Comps continue to improve about 100 points every 18 months (double hw speed + improved sw), so we are about 6 years away from very hard to beat (top GM's) and about 10 years from almost impossible to beat (for top GM's). They are very hard to close to impossible now for most people. :)
