I very much like Rebel 12. This freeware is indeed very strong. Below a
commented game of Junior7 vs Beta3. Playing conditions included in the pgn-file.

1. e4 {Comments: Kurt Utzinger, Switzerland, White: P3 650/40 MB hash,
ponder=on / Black: Duron 1.3/64 MB hash, ponder=on, j7book.ctg} 1... c5 2. Nf3
e6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 a6 5. Nc3 b5 6. Bd3 Bc5 7. Nb3 {White last book} 7... Ba7
{Black last book move.} 8. Qf3 {
Not a bad idea: Rebel 12 beta3 wants to bring the queen to g3 attacking g7.}
8... Nc6 9. Qg3 Nge7 {Junior7 does not like to act as a defender and therefore
avoids 9...Qf6. Evaluation 0.45/17 after 159 seconds.} 10. Qxg7 {
Rebel 12 beta3 shows a much positiver score with 13.00  1.54 after 5m30s.}
10... Rg8 11. Qxh7 Qc7 {The move expected by Rebel 12 beta3 but Junior7
decided for it at the last moment only.} 12. O-O Qe5 {
With the deadly threat 13...Rh8 followed by 14...Qxh2 mate} 13. Qh6 {In my opin
ion 13.Qh3 would have been a stronger option. But to prove this we need deeper
analysis.} 13... Ng6 14. Kh1 {A somewhat surprising move. Rebel 12 beta3 gave
00:04:00 12.19  1.81  Kh1 Th8 f4 Dxc3. Junior7 expected 14.h3} 14... Bxf2 {
And this time it is Junior7 to avoid the expected 14...Rh8} 15. Rxf2 Rh8 16.
Bf4 Rxh6 {Of course not 16...Nxf4?? 17.Qxf4 and White wins.} 17. Bxe5 Ngxe5 {

rather actively and it's not at all clear if the position is not already equal.

A perhaps slightly stronger alternative was 43...Rb8} 44. Rxc3 Ra7 45. g3+ Kf5
46. Kg2 Rah7 47. Re3 Rd8 48. b4 {White has almost enough compensation for his
small loss in material due to the two passers on the queenside.} 48... Rd4 49.
Rc3 Nf3 50. Bxf3 exf3+ 51. Kxf3 Kf6 52. Ke3 Rg4 53. Ke2 Rc7 {

precise.} 54... Rxc3 55. Nxg4+ Kf5 56. Nf2 Rxg3 57. Nd3 Ke4 58. Nc5+ Kd5 59.
Kd2 e5 60. a5 e4 61. a6 Ra3 {A funny situation: Black cannot win white's pawn
b4 without giving up his e4-pawn, and black's rook is bound to hold up the
opponent's a-pawn. It's a draw.} 62. Ke2 e3 63. a7 Rxa7 (63... Kd4 64. Nb3+ Ke4
65. Nc5+) 64. Kxe3 Kc4 65. Ke4 Re7+ {Junior7 "knows" that after 65...Kxb4 the
position is drawn and therefore avoids to take the pawn. But this does of
course not change the assessment of the position.} 66. Kf5 Kd5 67. Kf4 Rf7+ 68.
Ke3 {Rebel 12 beta3 = 00:03:15 14.00  -0.25  Ke3 Th7 Sa6} 68... Ra7 {
Junior 7 = -0.93/23 63 adjusted as draw} 1/2-1/2
