I wil share a little experiment with you. I purchased Shredder 6 a while back which runs the Fritz 7 GUI and I purchased Fritz 8 just recently . Just for kicks, after downloading the Update for F8 - something like F8GUI.IUP, I changed the name to F7GUI.IUP and ran the "iugrade.exe" in the Shredder 6 folder. Much to my surprise, it upgraded my Shredder 6 to Shredder 7 - including both Shredder Engines. But the Shredder 7.04 engine will not work as it asks for the Shredder 7 CD which I do not own. So I am stuck with using Shredder 7 (which I am very happy about). This only works for the older update released in December. I don;t think this works with the March 5 update, but I am not sure. I believe I will buy Shredder 7 at some point, but there is no upgrade price and I believe I have supported Chessbase quite well over the years - but the $45 is just high enough to start WWIII in my house. If it was $29, like the Chess Partner loyalty upgrade price - no problem. Michael
