Subject: How to optimise a book for blitz game (5 + 0)

Dear All,

I am a beginner in computer chess and looking into ways to improve the
performance of my computer (dual xeon 2.6 Ghz, 2 Gig DDR , 3,4,5 men TBs) on
playchess server of chessbase.

Currently i have fritz 8, powerbook 2003, shredder 7 book, and elect. I often
have noticed that using these books often take my computer into positions where
most of the cpu goes into reversing the disadvantage resulting from opening
positions. I would be grateful if somebody can show me how to optimise a book
for my engine deep fritz 7 and shredder 7.

Is the only way to do it to let the engine play on book-learning mode or should
i import my blitz games blindly into it? Is it a good idea to merge various
books?

I am totally at a loss as to what is should do. I do not have a big database of
blitz games either from where i can create a book.

I have often seen people with 2.4 Ghz of cpu moving in a band around 2700 and i
move in a band around 2800 with dual.. I suspect i am doing things wrongly.

Please help
Cheers
Amitesh
