Hi, I want to compare the thinking lines of several engines to what has mankind thought of. So, what are the most played moves (line) in let's say the last 20 years? Line: Most often move 1, then most often played answer, most played answer to that etc... (Let's assume up to move 16)...? Can someone have a look at a big database? For example, some of the engines books give as most frequent variant of grandmaster play (cutoff 16), however, I don't know if they reflect, what was really played by grandmasters, or if they are too much adapted to the engines play? (suggestions?): Fritz8.ctg: 1.e2-e4 c7-c5 2.¤g1–f3 d7-d6 3.d2-d4 c5xd4 4.¤f3xd4 ¤g8-f6 5.¤b1–c3 a7-a6 6.¥c1–g5 e7-e6 7.f2-f4 £d8-b6 8.£d1–d2 £b6xb2 9.¦a1–b1 £b2-a3 10.f4-f5 ¤b8-c6 11.f5xe6 f7xe6 12.¤d4xc6 b7xc6 13.e4-e5 d6xe5 14.¥g5xf6 g7xf6 15.¤c3-e4 ¥f8-e7 16.¥f1–e2 h7-h5 Line JBOOK.ctg: 1.d2-d4 ¤g8-f6 2.c2-c4 e7-e6 3.¤g1–f3 b7-b6 4.g2-g3 ¥c8-a6 5.b2-b3 ¥f8-b4+ 6.¥c1–d2 ¥b4-e7 7.¥f1–g2 c7-c6 8.¥d2-c3 d7-d5 9.¤f3-e5 ¤f6-d7 10.¤e5xd7 ¤b8xd7 11.¤b1–d2 0–0 12.0–0 ¦a8-c8 13.e2-e4 c6-c5 14.e4xd5 e6xd5 15.d4xc5 d5xc4 16.c5-c6 c4xb3 Line However, Juniors second main line is closer to Fritz books main line: JBOOK.ctg: 1.e2-e4 c7-c5 2.¤g1–f3 d7-d6 3.d2-d4 c5xd4 4.¤f3xd4 ¤g8-f6 5.¤b1–c3 a7-a6 6.¥c1–e3 e7-e6 7.f2-f3 b7-b5 8.£d1–d2 ¤b8-d7 9.g2-g4 h7-h6 10.0–0–0 ¥c8-b7 11.h2-h4 b5-b4 12.¤c3-e2 d6-d5 13.¥f1–h3 d5xe4 14.g4-g5 h6xg5 15.h4xg5 e4xf3 16.¤e2-g3 ¤f6-e4 Line Chesstiger has: TIGER.ctg: 1.e2-e4 c7-c5 2.¤g1–f3 d7-d6 3.d2-d4 c5xd4 4.¤f3xd4 ¤g8-f6 5.¤b1–c3 a7-a6 6.¥c1–e3 e7-e6 7.f2-f3 b7-b5 8.£d1–d2 ¤b8-d7 9.g2-g4 h7-h6 10.0–0–0 ¥c8-b7 11.h2-h4 b5-b4 12.¤c3-e2 d6-d5 13.¥f1–h3 d5xe4 14.g4-g5 h6xg5 15.h4xg5 e4xf3 16.¤e2-g3 ¤f6-e4 Line At least Tiger and Junior books agree totally on the same line here, nearly identically to the Fritz book (please, someone with a huge database have a look, what is the most common line in newer Grandmaster history?). I think e2-e4 is the most frequent opening. But what then? ct7-c5? e7-e5? ?? Thanks Axel
