Cache memory is not user selectable - it is hardware.

If by "cache" you mean hashtable size (also referred to as transposition table
size), you'll want to read the results, posted below, of Hyatt's tests in that
regard with his chess program Crafty.

The very best way to test this would be to actually do a similar test with your
own computers using the programs you want to test.

Lots of times we wave our hands and make lots of very intelligent theories as to
which is best and why. But with a few tests we can absolutely know, for sure,
the correct answer; for the hardware, operating system, and software in
question.

And it saves a lot of hand waving and theorizing.
