You probably misunderstand "why" it resigns. Remember that I play
*hundreds* of games vs GM players on the servers. And "they" expect a
certain degree of respect. IE I can't think of a single GM that will
blunder a pawn against crafty and not instantly resign... unless it is
a bullet game and they think they have a chance for tactical tricks. But
most resign on the spot. Should Crafty continue to play on in a game where
it is a piece down, or a rook down, or even a queen down, it can be taken
as offensive. And I'd rather resign in an occasionally drawn position, and
keep the GM players coming back for more, than to make them play a KQQR vs KR
ending to mate and possibly insult them driving them away.

In normal games, like at the WMCCC events, this is simply turned off by
adding "resign=0" to the .craftyrc file, which everyone can do. I even
recognize IM and GM players by name (inside crafty) and alter the resign
threshold, to "treat them with respect" so they keep coming back (which
helps me debug of course)...
