Just had an interesting conversation with the operator of Hiarcs8x on ICC, who I happened to notice kbitzing at the Garompon - Deep Sjeng match. with his permission I post the following: ********** tell Hiarcs8x When is the new version of Hiarcs coming out? Hiarcs8x(C) tells you: We have no set date yet. Sometime this year for sure, though. tell Hiarcs8x OK thanks Hiarcs8x(C) tells you: You will be happy to know that it is holding strong against Fritz 8 on a 2.5GHz AMD machine and both engines are using Fritz8's opening book. Matches are 60 0 with 50 games played so far. tell Hiarcs8x That's fantastic news! I don't own any version yet, but have always been interested. I will probably buy this one. How is it doing against other engines like Shredder 7? Hiarcs8x(C) tells you: Those tests are up next. If you send me a message and remind me, I will give you the final results. Also remember, this is not the final release engine either -- improvements are still to come.
