I don't think that it makes much more sense than depth limits, but the Arena GUI
features an interesting unique level setting which allows to set the number of
nodes per move. I didn't see that before.

It might at least be useful for matches between engines which have a very
similar node rate, because it probably is a - more or less - hardware
independent level setting (i.e. when trying to reproduce moves or long match
performances on other computers).
