Moritz, If CSS does not even get the old news correct I wonder what to think of the rest of its contents ... :-) Prof. Tony Marsland, the current ICCA President, sent the following electronic message to all former WCCC and WMCCC participants on September 27, 1998. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Subject: 9th World Computer Chess Championship (preliminary info) From: tony@cs.ualberta.ca Sorry if this message is of no interest to you, I have not had time to prepare a proper mailing list. This list is supposed to be of people who have shown an interest in computer chess, and more specifically have been involved in the development of a chess program. PRELIMINARY NEWS RELEASE--for your personal information an official and more complete release will follow in about one month time. ------------------------------------------------------------ The ICCA is pleased to announce that it has made an oral agreement with the Heinz-Nixdorf Forum and the University of Paderborn to hold the next World Computer Chess Championship in Paderborn, Germany, during the week 14-20 June 1999. We are delighted that this event will be hosted by a group who not only have considerable experience running computer chess events, but who are also among the leaders in developing original techniques for computer chess. We look forward to a successful event. The final details and application forms to participate will be published in the December issue of the ICCA Journal. This information will also be put on the ICCA web page at: http://www.dcs.qmw.ac.uk/~icca sometime during November when the full program has been drawn up. The November release will also provide details about application deadline, costs, facilities etc. It is yet not known how many participants can be accommodated. Following our tradition for the triennial world championship, this event will be open to all equipment, including parallel and custom built computers--not just "microcomputers". At this time there is no additional information for public release, and there will not be any for at least another month. For the moment I will only be handling requests to be dropped from this mailing list--I have some other projects that must take priority over the next three weeks. Best wishes Tony Marsland ICCA President /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// =Ernst=
