A couple of years ago, I got angry enough at a guy that I called the cops. The cop came to my house while I printed some stuff outI got angry enough at the guy that I spent a thousand bucks on a lawyer, which got me a subpoena, a demand letter, and a request for more money. That case involved repeated spamming of pornographic nonsense, an attempt to "frame" me for conspiracy to commit a crime, and most seriously, forged-header extremely racist posts ostensibly coming from me. People believed some of this, and I got a few death threats in my email. The guy was a complete lunatic, and all I did to attract his attention was comment on his unprovoked attacks on other people, most of whom had done nothing except comment on his unprovoked attacks on other people, etc. It was an incredible pain in the butt to go after this guy. If I had it to do over, I don't think I'd do it again, even though it caused the guy to completely disappear forever, which was a very positive outcome. As annoying as this current situation is, it's nothing compared to that. 1) There is absolutely no point to bringing the legal system into this. It's not worth it. Things can be settled outside of that. 2) If I felt that it was worth it, I don't believe that I have a case, since my damages are either zero or close to that, the thing was finite in duration, and is not likely to repeat. 3) If it is worth it, and I have a case, it is a big enough pain to go after someone in another state, that I suspect that going after someone in another country is completely crazy. I am not shrugging it off, but I find the idea of talking about applying lawyers to this problem to be very embarassing. I never mentioned that, and it's embarassing to even have to talk about it in order to have to deny that have any interest whatsoever in doing it. I never considered a lawyer solution. I am not the kind of person who threatens to sue when events occur that don't involve real financial damages or real or potential injury to my family. bruce
