The chess program buying public is made up, for the most part, of people who don't know anything about engines or computer chess... they just want a chess game for their computer. If you want to make some decent money, you'll have to provide the whole package. To do otherwise, you'll find your customers to be a small subset of the small group that frequents CCC or rgcc - and if your aim is to make money, you will be dissapointed. You also risk losing your hobby, and will be both broke and out of a fun way to pass the time. For what it's worth, if you ever do decide to market your engine I will not buy it because it is stronger than any other, I will buy it only if I play it and find that I enjoy myself while doing so. Jason.
