Different time controls, different results (even: same time controls, different
results when you repeat the tournament... :o)

But 40/40 is a good compromise IMO.

(I think every time control makes sense nowadays, where the engines reach
two-digit search depths in the middlegame. 10 or more plies + extensions are "a
lot of calculation", disregarding how long it takes, even it's only a few
seconds of time per move. Of course the maximum of pure chess quality requires
always the maximum of thinking time and computer speed... it's always a
compromise. I could also claim,  40/2h is not competitive for correspondence
chess, etc.etc.)
